German breads

Germany boasts a rich artistic heritage: from its beautiful cathedrals, classical silent films and philosophy to the world’s great physicist, Einstein as well as a crop of classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Handel and Wagner. The visual arts are also well represented and so Germany appears to have it all.

Yet its rich artistic diet has nothing on its food. It is said that it’s best to stop counting calories and cholesterol levels while in Germany! Breakfast is so big you may want to just pick up a midday bratwurst from an Imbiss (takeaway-food stand). Dinner, allegedly a lighter meal, can still mean a plate piled high with sausages and dumplings. Beers of various kinds are the national beverage and it’s one cultural idiosyncracy that must be thoroughly explored!
